Take this journal as you will, I am not writing this out of hate or spite. I don't consider this as a rant, merely an opinion on the word 'popular' when used for Closed Species here on DA.

Now firstly I am well aware that if someone who watches me reads this - or they don't and come across this journal -give a response 'Oh, you are just jealous' I will honestly say yes I am because I am not perfect. Can anyone honestly say that they have never been jealous over anything in their lives? I am human and therefore flawed to feel those emotions.
So that being said this is NOT a jealous journal post, I just wish to clarify that, although I do feel jealous, I also feel proud of those artists who have become where they are today.

Now the point behind this post. I have read so many journals of people wanting to sell/trade the adopts they have bought, to other people for either money or trades. That in all aspect is fine, they belong to them and thus it is there choice so long as it does not offend the T.O.S of the designer. What bugs me is this:

"I am looking to trade with other Popular Species only"

This is my concern. The word popular here I feel has become a dirty, tainted word. I am not trying to complain that the Species that are in high demand is not worthy of such a title, I just feel that those who only want 'popular' species are not giving other artists a chance.

What I mean is the closed species now did not start off being popular, something happened to them and them along with their designer got noticed. How? It is probably a different story for each artist. But they got noticed at the end of the day.
I just feel that those who trade their 'popular' species for another they believe is on the same level is narrow minded? I mean, is there really no other species design out there on this site not worthy of a trade? Is it because a) the prices makes it so, (due to the species being seen as 'popular' their prices naturally increase) If it is seen as not equal to the price your paid it deserves no attention or consideration, or b) it is not created by the artist you admire/know?

Heck I am not saying those who are selling/trading should accept everything thrown at them to be fair, what is fair is not only asking for one, two or three designs without considering other possibilities of finding a good design hidden in the shadows via these journals.

If you have a legitimate reason for your choice(s), fair enough. I am no position to complain, maybe I'm not here either for this whole journal post but I am free to have my say.

I could be wrong, but I find that sentence is somewhat offensive to other artists. Even myself I find it undermining, not that it will stop me from trying but it makes me question what am I missing? What is wrong with my designs? Does anyone else think this?

It's okay if people have a preference! We all do! Stating it that way in a journal doesn't sound so limited and biased because if you also allow other artists to step forward and show their works! Isn't this how it all started? To help promote each other?

Those who say they want popular arts only may not realise what they say is hurtful unless told~ I am not angry, definitely if that is the case for it really comes down to a misunderstanding.

Not everyone should like the exact same things, but it is not harmful to try something new either.

I give credit to those artists because they have come along way - or short depending on their situation/promotion - and reaching where they have now is brilliant! Seriously congratulations for your hard work paid off!

This is again my thoughts. I am not starting an argument, debate or quarrel here! Just wish to state my opinion.

I feel like this sums it up pretty well.
